High-Raised Kidney Panel
A raised back panel keeps draught, sawdust and debris out when you are bent over the saw, paired with an elasticated waistband and extra-wide belt loops.
Downward-Facing Pocket Zips
Pocket zips face downwards so you can still get into your pockets with a harness on, and they will not fill up with chippings while you work.
Abrasion-Resistant Panels

What is the difference between Design A and Design C?
Design A has chainsaw protection across the front of the leg. Design C has the same front coverage and adds protection to the back of the leg as well.
Choose Design C for climbing and aerial work, and for students, apprentices and anyone still building experience with a saw, where there is more chance of contact with the back of the leg. Design A suits experienced operators working on the ground. Your own risk assessment or your employer's policy has the final say.
What kind of work are these trousers suitable for?
Any job where a chainsaw is in your hands and certified leg protection is required. That covers:
- Tree surgery and arboriculture, climbing and ground crew alike
- Forestry and woodland management, including thinning and felling
- Grounds maintenance, landscaping and estate work
- Utility and rail vegetation clearance
- Firewood processing and sawmill yard work

Choose Design C for work carried out from the rope, and for anyone newer to the saw. Design A suits experienced operators working on the ground.
What does Class 1 (20 m/s) mean?
Class 1 is the chain speed the protective layer is tested against under BS EN ISO 11393-2:2019, which is 20 metres per second.
Check the chain speed of your own saw before you order. If it runs faster than 20 m/s, Class 1 is not enough and you need a higher class of protection. Your saw's handbook or your dealer will confirm the figure.
How do these compare with Breatheflex and Breatheflex Pro?
All are certified to the same Class 1 standard, so the protection is not the difference. The Mid-Range trousers strip back to the features you use every day at a lower price point. Breatheflex and Breatheflex Pro add more ventilation, a wider colour range and a more technical build for arborists spending long days in the canopy. If budget is the deciding factor, start here.
Which size and leg length should I order?
Sizes run XS to 3XL, each available in short, regular and tall leg lengths, so order the leg length that fits you.
Chainsaw trousers must not be altered. Hemming, turning up or shortening the leg cuts into the protective layer and voids the certification, so the trousers can no longer be relied on as PPE. Measure your waist and inside leg and check them against the Arbortec size guide before ordering. If you fall between two sizes, our team is happy to advise.
Can I use the pockets while wearing a harness?
Yes. The pocket zips face downwards specifically so you can reach your pockets with a harness on, without the zips catching on your equipment. It also stops chippings and sawdust collecting in your pockets while you work.
How do I wash and care for them?
Wash at 30 degrees with a mild detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener and no tumble drying, as heat and softeners can affect the protective layer. Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Our clothing maintenance guide covers this in full.
When should chainsaw trousers be replaced?
Replace them immediately if the protective layer has been cut, snagged or exposed, and inspect them before every use for damage, heavy wear or contamination with oil and fuel. Chainsaw trousers are PPE, not workwear: once the protective layer is compromised it cannot be repaired.
