The story of Arbortec began over 30 years ago with a focus on providing high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) for arborists and outdoor professionals. From humble beginnings, we've grown into a globally recognized leader in chainsaw apparel and tree climbing gear. Our Defining Moments
Our story began in 1990 when stiff, heavy chainsaw boots and trousers were the norm. We challenged the status quo by introducing lightweight, comfortable, and waterproof options. Here's a timeline of key milestones that have shaped Arbortec:
1992
Fresh from Sixth form, Guy and Karl started out by selling an Italian range of safety footwear. This company came to be known as Safeguy. At the same time, Arbortec Forestwear was founded, which happened to be in the local area.
1994
First trade counter opened which had PPE equipment and a small selection of outdoor equipment. This is the point where we challenged the status quo and introduced a dual-density range of lightweight, comfortable and waterproof chainsaw boots.
1999-2010
Steady growth and direct collaboration with tradespeople and outdoor professionals provided valuable insight into market needs - insight that led to the expansion into Arbortec Forestwear.
2010
Transitioned to second-generation ownership, focusing on technical forestwear and apparel. Sold country clothing business to concentrate on Arbortec.
2012
After expanding the Arbortec footwear collection, we decided to introduce a second brand which was named Treehog. Our budget brand that sells tree climbing gear.
2014
Arbortec introduced the Breatheflex chainsaw trousers - highly technical and comfortable, with bright colours that are a key part of our unique identity.
2017
With demand outpacing supply, Arbortec took control of its own production by opening a dedicated factory in Portugal.
2021
The purchase of a new innovation centre and the relocation of distribution facilities cemented Arbortec’s position as an industry leader in the design, manufacture, and delivery of cutting-edge chainsaw apparel.
2022
A new era for Arbortec with a refreshed brand identity and redesigned logo - created to reflect our global ambition, sustainability values, and innovation-first approach.
2023
Continued expansion with new product innovations, grew our dealer network globally, increased social media presence and focused on sustainability initiatives like forest regeneration projects.
2025
We opened our new world-class Arbortec Innovation Centre, a hub designed to drive product development, sustainability, and the future of chainsaw protection on a global scale.
