Arboriculture can be a mucky business. Between the scuff marks, flying debris and unpleasant weather, your gear can end the day looking a little worse for wear.
We can’t have that. Your gear should look as awesome as it possibly can when you head out on the job. As much as it pains us to say it, you gotta clean your gear.
Here is a guide on how to take care of your ropes and harnesses.
You will need:
- A washing machine.
- A couple of cloth bags.
Step 1: Place your ropes and harnesses into some large cloth bags then put them into the washing machine.
Step 2: Run a simple, delicate, rinse wash with no spin in lukewarm water. If you want to use soaps, make sure they are as mild as possible (face wash, body wash etc.)
Step 3: Dry inside, away from the sun.
Remember:
- Do not use detergents, solvents, bleach, stain removers, degreasers etc.
- Wash in lukewarm water.
- Do not use high-pressure water sprayers.
- Always use cloth bags to avoid cloggage.
- Do not dry in the sun.
It is that simple!
Now you can climb in style.
